Branford offers a number of excellent public and private schools. Branford High School serves about 1,200 students in grades nine through twelve and is known for a holistic, project-based approach to learning that has challenging requirements in math, science and writing. Branford delivers many opportunities for outdoor activities, from kayaking and boating on Long Island Sound to traversing 400 acres of public preserve land and the Branford Trail.  Locals love its fishing, water sports and breathtaking beaches. The Owenego Beach and Tennis Club features a historic inn, beautiful gardens and beachfront, making it a favorite spot for all members of the family.  The Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, founded in 1901, is a family oriented club offering a nine hole golf course, tennis courts, Olympic swimming pool, locker rooms and a 100 slip marina.  Branford is also home to a community YMCA with multiple pools, child care and workout classes. The Branford Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Connecticut Hospice for swimming and aqua classes at Hospice’s outdoor beachside pool.

Have a picnic lunch with your family at Foote Family Memorial Park or go for a hike with your dog on the trails around Young’s Pond. If shopping is more your style, you can enjoy an afternoon in Branford’s eclectic local shops along the town Green and have a meal at one of the many local restaurants. Branford also has a unique craft brewing scene as home to three different local breweries.
